State Senate Democrats want to raise the minimum wage in Iowa, but don't know if they'll be able to get the proposal passed. The "Sioux City Journal" reports Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal of Council Bluffs believes a minimum wage hike will be part of their agenda in 2014. Democrats are meeting in Cedar Rapids to plot out their priorities, and note Iowa's minimum wage has remained seven-dollars-25-cents an hour since 2008. Gronstal says getting House Republicans and Governor Branstad to agree will require some compromise, with House Speaker Kraig Paulsen adding majority Republicans are willing to at least talk about it.
