The Ridgemont School Board approved the schematic design of the new PreK-12 school building at their monthly meeting Thursday night in the high school library.

After months at the drawing board, the district unveiled a cost-effective design that focuses on teacher and student collaboration through project based learning. The board hopes to approve the design development phase in the next couple of months and go to bid around February 2014.

The board made internal transfers within the maintenance and food service departments to restaff after the retirement of Chuck Roby. Tiffany Cobb will be moving from food service to the first shift elementary custodial position. Brenda Zachary and Gene Ledley will pick up additional hours. Several non-certified personnel were placed on the substitute list. In addition to these changes, Ridgemont approved a shared service agreement with Kenton City Schools as they have done in the past to share high school science teacher Nick Stuck, and to provide services to students with severe disabilities.

Finally, the board voted to approve stipends for teachers serving above and beyond their teaching responsibilities by participating in the district leadership team, building leadership teams, or the student learning objective review committee for the new Ohio Teacher Evaluation System.

The Ridgemont Board of Education changed the dates of its October and April board meetings to the 17th of each month.
