What to do when the water levels go down and leave a park’s boat launch too far from the water? Purchased in 1945, Sugar Creek County Park has been known as a launching place for whitefish and perch fishing–winter and summer. Still suitable in the winter for ice fishing, the launching area is high and dry the rest of the year. But there is still 40 acres of wooded area within the park boundaries and, through the efforts of Tim Hildebrandt and many volunteers, plus generous donations fom area businesses, a disc golf course with 18 holes now winds through the trees of Sugar Creek County Park. Disc golf can be played by all ages and is easily learned, if not totally mastered, in a short time.
Coming to Sugar Creek later this year is a bridge that will enable visitors to cross the creek to reach the wooded section of this 40 acre park. Until then there are two ways: scrambling up and down the banks of the creek, or by walking up County N road a short way, and climbing up into the woods to a trail that leads to the Disc Golf course.
The waterside area has parking, restrooms, picnic tables and benches along with a wide view of Green Bay and its magnificent sunsets.
