Hammondsport Central School is looking for a fourth buyer for the Curtiss School building. The latest buyer fell through, and the Stuben County Industrial Developmental Agency is working feverishly to find more prospective buyers for the next school board meeting, which is set for October 16th. If a buyer is chosen at this meeting, then the new ownership will take hold as soon as the beginning of the year.
In the meantime, this means more budget cuts for Hammondsport schools. They didn’t budget for maintaining the Curtiss building this year and the maintenance costs will be around twenty thousand dollars.
The next buyer has their work cut out for them -- the school needs a new septic system, but this may mean a lower price for the buyer.
