The DeGraff Board of Public Trustees, and Utility Superintendent are asking residents to cooperate with the Village by ensuring they are not discharging their sump pumps into the Village’s sanitary sewer system. During wet weather the Village can receive heavy localized rains. This may result in homes and businesses experiencing increased usage of sump pumps.
If home owners, business owners, and/or residents have their sump pump discharge lines connected to the Village sanitary sewer system, they can experience sanitary sewer backups and overflows. Excessive inflow of clear water from sump pumps may also cause sewer rates to increase in the future for residents of the Village due to overloading of the treatment facility and pump stations.
If you have any questions, contact the Village office at (937) 585-6632. Residents are also encouraged to attend a Board of Public Affairs meeting, which is held the third Monday of each month at 7:00pm at the DeGraff Municipal building.
