Ellis recognized with Distinguished Service Award by Ohio Association of Gifted Children

Pioneer and public education servant in the field of Gifted Advocacy, Deborah Ellis was selected from among educators across the state to receive the coveted Ohio Association of Gifted Children Distinguished Service Award. The award will be given during the state OAGC conference in Columbus.

Debbie’s journey began in 1974 and has reached many lives throughout her career as she has impacted Gifted Education on not only a local, state and national level, but internationally as well. An active Logan County resident, Debbie has held and holds many community leadership and volunteer positions. And while she has achieved many milestones and honors, Debbie remains a dedicated advocate for all children.

The majority of her years in education were spent with Bellefontaine City Schools as a teacher, administrator, curriculum resource coordinator, grant writer, and gifted coordinator. Her primary focus is bringing early college options to high school students through dual enrollment and Advanced Placement. She was named a BHS Distinguished Alumni in 2011.
