Motion Sensors On Leo Frigo

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) northeast region office in Green Bay is announcing equipment is now in place on the Leo Frigo Bridge (I-43) in Green Bay to monitor any bridge movement. The device is a Memsic VG 350.  More information can be found by clicking here.

 

The equipment has been placed on the tops of three piers (21, 22 and 23) and are powered by marine batteries in protective cases. The equipment will send signals to a computer to record data and should the device detect any movement. It will also trigger a horn sounding an alarm to the workers below. As of noon today, no further movement was detected on the bridge.

 

Crews are continuing to work to determine the cause of Pier 22 settling under the east side of the Leo Frigo Bridge on Wednesday morning, September 25. The bridge has been closed indefinitely and both the public and the media are reminded to stay off the bridge and away from the area where the piers are located.
