"Breaking Bad" Finale Lights Up Twitterverse

Sep 30, 2013 7:41 AM

"Breaking Bad" may be over, but that doesn't mean people have stopped talking about it.  Before, during, and after Sunday night's series finale of the Emmy-winning AMC show, hashtags like "Goodbye Breaking Bad" and "Breaking Bad Finale" were worldwide trending topics on Twitter.  Among the group of fans flocking to the social media site to express their love for the show were a number of celebrities, including Jimmy Kimmel, Rosie O'Donnell, Ewan McGregor, Don Cheadle, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, Tony Hawk, Lawrence O'Donnell, Gayle King, and more.  Director Darren Aronofsky said the end of the show's "historic run" felt a little like "losing a good friend," while Conan O'Brien joked about chaining "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan in a barn and forcing him to come up with another show.

"Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul was a little kinder to Gilligan, tweeting "Love you Vince!" and thanking the creator and everyone else for "the amazing ride."  The show's leading man, Bryan Cranston, also thanked fans for sharing the ride with him, adding that "Breaking Bad" never would have lasted without their dedication.  The actor who played Cranston's son, RJ Mitte [[ mitt-ee ]], said he hopes fans loved watching the show as much as they loved shooting it.
