A disappointing Milwaukee Brewers season came to an end yesterday in New York with a 3-2 loss to the Mets. It was a season that featured a major suspension to franchise player Ryan Braun, dozens of injuries and a lineup that resembled their AAA roster.
Marco Estrada pitched seven strong innings and finished the season (3-0) with a 2.15 ERA in his final nine starts, including four quality starts in September.
Carlos Gomez became the first Brewers player to reach 20 home runs and 40 stolen bases in the same season, by blasting one more to the bleachers in the regular season finale.
A pair of errors during the eighth inning gave the Mets the tying and winning runs.
