Fire In Rural DeWitt County Sunday

A fire just outside of Birkbeck, in DeWitt County, Sunday morning left a home a complete loss.

Clinton Fire Chief Shawn Milton indicates just before 7 am Sunday morning, crews were called to a fire in a garage attached to a home in rural DeWitt County. Chief Milton says upon arrival they found a large pillar of smoke coming from the garage.

Crews from Kenney and Wapella aided in assistance, along with crews from Maroa, Farmer City and Weldon were also on hand.

No injuries were reported. Crews were on scene for roughly six hours.
