Doctors Set To Retire After ACA Kicks In

Oct 1, 2013 7:33 AM

ABloomingtonsurgeon predicts there will soon be fewer doctors to care for a growing number of patients as coverage under the Affordable Care Act gets underway. Dr. John Wieland says that’s because some doctors are preparing to call it quits.

Dr. Wieland adds some docs are retiring so they don’t have to deal with the new regulations and reporting standards that come with the ACA.

Weiland says medical school enrollments are rising to a great degree, so nurse practitioners could be called on to pick-up the load. He says they could handle much of the care that doctors provide and they could provide quick relief to the medical field because they don't require as many years of training.
