Congress failed to reach an agreement by the midnight deadline to keep government funded...so nearly 800-thousand government workers now face furloughs as part of the federal government shuts down.  Rochester area Democrat Louise Slaughter announced the deadlock in the House.

Slaughter-Announced deadlock

Southern Tier Congressman Tom Reed held a conference call with area media including WDOE News and defended his position on connecting a delay in Obamacare with the budget.

Reed-Defended his position

Reed is receiving criticism about his position on supporting the shutdown from his Democratic opponent Martha Robertson.  She says Reed has lately been trying to run away from the "Tea party" label, but now he is showing his true colors.
