Rockford police officers cleared in shooting

The Boone County State’s Attorney says the two police acted within their legal rights when they shot and killed a man.  David Mordt and Austin Schmitt were called to a home on Springmeadow Drive in Rockford last month because someone had been firing a gun.  When they got there, Russell Donahue was reportedly pointing a gun at a woman and her kids and was threatening to kill them.  Mordt and Schmitt fired at Donahue.  He later died.
