Dental School To Welcome Children

If your child is between 3 and 13 and in need of dental care, you need to be at the SIU School of Dental Medicine on Monday, October 14. That is the day for the school's annual Give Kids A Smile Day from 7:30am-noon. Children qualified for the program are those eligible for free and reduced-priced meal programs.

Dr. Poonan Jain, Director of Community Dentistry at the school, says this will be more than just a day of preventative care and examinations.

Jain comments

She says the hope is to see 300 kids that day. Last year, they saw nearly 200. She says they go on the honor system, so proof of income is not needed. The Dental School is located at 2800 College Avenue in Alton.
