Chemung Co. Town Highway Superintendent Arrested

A Chemung County town highway superintendent has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than 50-THOUSAND dollars in goods and services. 

Roger Burlew, who has served as highway super for the town of Erin for 15 years, is charged with felony grand larceny and four felony counts of offering a false instrument for filing. His arrest was the result of a joint investigation that included the offices of state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

                                                     

Burlew is accused of submitting at least 178 fraudulent vouchers since 2007, including vouchers for parts for equipment the town doesn't own.

If convicted, he faces 5-to-15 years in state prison.
