EIU’s Doudna to present Autism Speaker David Finch

Best-selling author and speaker David Finch will kick-off Eastern Illinois University’s 2013 Autism Conference at 7 pm Thursday Night. The lecture will take place in the Dvorak Concert Hall located in the Doudna Fine Arts Center. Tickets for the presentation are $10.

According to Dan Crews, Director of Patron Services at the Doudna Fine Arts Center, David Finch is a humorist and author of the acclaimed New York Times best-selling memoir, The Journal of Best Practices. Married in 2003 and diagnosed five years later with Asperger syndrome, Finch has committed himself to relentless self-improvement, sometimes to a comical extent.

As a former semiconductor engineer David Finch has turned to a full-time writer and speaker. Finch has written for The New York Times, Huffington Post, and Slate, and he writes a relationship blog for Psychology Today. Finch says his greatest accomplishment by far has been learning how to thrive as a family man.

A portion of the proceeds from this event supports the establishment of an Autism Research Center on EIU’s Charleston Campus. Finch is also the Keynote Speaker for the 2013 EIU Autism Conference.
