Illinois WWII Vets Don’t Government Shutdown Stop Them

A group of World War Two veterans on an honor flight from Chicago to D.C. didn’t let the government shutdown stop them from visiting their memorial.  They walked right passed the barricades to see the monument, yesterday.  About 90 vets made the trip. They were greeted at the wall with several Illinois lawmakers but Honor Flight officials say the vets weren’t impressed.  They say it wasn’t a day for politicking, it was simply a time to remember and honor those who served.
