DNR Taking Fracking Registrations

Businesses and individuals that want to get a fracking permit in Illinois can now register online.  The Illinois Department of Natural Resources opened up registration earlier this week, but they aren’t taking actual applications for permits yet.  Permits won’t be issued until after the administrative rules and regulations for fracking are in place.  Fracking allows companies to dig deep into the ground and pull oil and natural gas out of shale rocks.  Opponents argue it’ll cause more earthquakes and contaminate the drinking water in Illinois.
