Market Day Today in Bethalto

The Bethalto Spirit organization holds its first ever Market Day today in the downtown area. More than two dozen vendors are expected...selling food, crafts, and other gift items. The event runs from 9am to 1pm today with portions of Main and Oak Streets blocked off for pedestrian traffic.

Andy Augustine with Bethalto Spirit says they've been looking at adding to their regular annual events:

Augustine says they will wait and see before deciding to plan a similar event for the spring but does not anticipate it evolving into a weekly farmer's market similar to what is done in Alton and Edwardsville. In case of rain, the event will be moved to next Saturday, October 12.
