Drivers could save money at the pump if the government shutdown goes on much longer. Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy.com says there could be some economic downturn as a result of the shutdown. If that’s the case, gas prices would follow and head downward. Prices have already started to go down but DeHaan says that’s not because of the shutdown. He says several factors like higher demand, refineries switching to winter blends, and what appears to be a resolution in Syria have contributed to the current price drop.
