While some are still optimistic that the tree canopy over Garrett Bay Road in the town of Liberty Grove can avoid the chainsaw, Carl Zapffe, President of the Northern Door Neighbors Association says he had hoped to help the Town Board and the residents who don’t want the trees removed find some common ground.
But after Wednesday’s night’s meeting he thinks that might be impossible.
Twenty people who stood silently at the Liberty Grove meeting to protest not being allowed to speak on the tree cutting were escorted out of the building by a Door County Deputy at the request of the Town Board chairman.
The chairman has not responded to our request for an interview.
