Wednesday is still set as the cut-over day for Ontario County's new Next Generation 9-1-1 and Emergency Radio Communications system. Sheriff Phil Povero says the plan is for law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency responders to share the same set of 700-megahertz band frequencies.
The change, according to Povero, is part of a national effort to simplify communications following the September 11th tragedy.
Highway Departments don't have to be on board until the end of 2018.
