The Charleston Trojans travelled west to take on the Mt. Zion Braves in Apollo Conference play Friday night. After taking on county rival Mattoon last week in the Coles County Clash, the Trojans were looking for their first conference win of the season by taking on Mt. Zion, but the Braves star running back, Austin Ray, had his way by scoring three touchdowns and Mt. Zion beat Charleston 42-7. Play-by-play announcer Jack Ashmore has more:

Mt. Zion improves to 2-4, 2-1 in the Apollo, while Charleston falls to 1-5 overall, 0-3 in conference play. The Trojans will host the Paris Tigers at Trojan Hill next Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled at 7. The game will be heard on 96.1 FM, 1270 AM WRJM and online at wrjmdailynews.com
