A Moline man is under arrest after firing a gun in the vicinity of a Moline Police Officer. The incident happened Friday afternoon just before 3 Pm. Patrol Officer Nathan Medinger was patrolling near the 1400 block of 12th Avenue when he witnessed a white male subject discharge a weapon. Officer Medinger attempted to take the man into custody leading to a foot chase that ended when the suspect entered an apartment complex at 1407 12th Avenue. Officer Medinger then called for back up and the apartment building was evacuated as Moline Police surrounded the building. The stand off ended when the suspect suffered a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the leg and surrendered to police. The wound was superficial and the suspect refused medical attention. The incident remains under investigation.
