Rochelle officials still working on train horn issue

City officials in Rochelle continue to look at ways to solve the train horn problem in the Hub City.

There are currently 11 crossings in Rochelle as between 80 to 100 trains travel through the community each day.

During this week's program "Let The People Know", Rochelle Airport Manager Mark Delhotal talked about the problem and their strategic plan for quiet zones.

The city is also considering wayside horns at the crossings for traffic.

Delhotal said that they plan to meet with Railroad officials later this month on this issue.

The Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroads both have tracks in Rochelle.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and re-broadcast Saturday mornings at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday mornings at 6 on "The Coyote", 102.3FM.
