AttheApple N' Pork Festival each year, the grounds of the CH Moore Homestead are where non-profit organizations from all over DeWitt County are scattered with lots of unique foods as a primary fundraiser for their yearly budgets.
Each year the kettle corn stand, located just off of the bridge that connects the grounds to the flea market, sets up shop to help groups within Clinton High School. The past several years, the booth has benefited the golf and football teams at the high school. This year, organizer of the booth, Randy Workman says they did their traditional benefit for the football and golf team, but they also brought the CHS Jr. Class into the fold.
Located at the base of the south side of the bridge on the Museum grounds, Workman says many groups viewed the spot as not very ideal. He says though, they like the location because they get so much foot traffic of people going back and forth from the 4-H tents, or the flea market back to the grounds.
Workman says the kettle corn stand will start to see a line form around 9 or 9:30 each morning of the Apple N' Pork Festival and he says once they get behind, they are behind the whole day.
He estimates the stand brings in around $2-thousand a day a weekend with perfect weather like last year.
