Two teens injured in city crash

Two teen passengers were injured in a two-vehicle crash in the 900 block of South Detroit Street Saturday night around 11:20.

The Bellefontaine Police Department reports that Brandon Barker, 19, of 185 Rush Street, Rushsylvania, was driving a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero northbound when he rear-ended a 2002 GMC Sierra operated by Cody Dicus, 19, of 837 South Detroit Street, Bellefontaine.

A passenger in each vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Kaylynn Payne, 16, of 11690 Williams Drive, Lakeview, was riding with Barker. She was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS.

Payne was not wearing her seat belt.

Gavin Brinkman, 16, of 119 North Park Street, Bellefontaine, was riding with Dicus. He was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS.

Brinkman was wearing his seat belt.

Neither driver was injured. Both of them were wearing their seat belts.

Barker was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.

There were nine passengers in the GMC pickup and three in the Alero.

Barker's car suffered moderate damage. The pickup had minor damage.
