NY Veterans Status Can Be Displayed on License

New York State veterans can have their status now displayed on their driver’s licenses and identification cards if they want.

If they choose to do so, the word “veteran” will appear printed on the upper left corner of their licenses. The distinction allows veterans to more easily identified because many businesses offer discounts to veterans.

When veterans apply for a state driver’s license, permit, or non-driver identification card, they can show their original certificate of release or discharge from active duty.
