Rock Island is ready to move forward with a new police station. Last night's Rock Island City Council meeting had city leaders decide to move forward with plans by approving more than $12,000 for an in depth environmental study on the land the city purchased for the new station between 5th and 7th avenue, just west of the downtown. The result of the new environmental study will tell the city just how much it will cost to prepare the site for construction. As planned right now, the project will cost around $17.5 million dollars when completed.
