Panthers, Flames Set for Midweek Match

The Panther men’s soccer team travels to UIC on Tuesday, Oct. 8 for a 7 p.m. non-conference match. EIU is 0-7-2 on the year and UIC is 7-3.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play on Aug. 30 in Chicago, but inclement weather forced the match to be postponed.

PANTHER NOTES
• Garet Christianson continues to lead the Summit League in scoring with 11 points (four goals, three assists). Jake Brillhart ranks third in the conference in scoring with 10 points (three goals, four assists) while Jake Plant ranks fourth with nine points (three goals, three assists).

• EIU has scored a goal in every match this season, including two matches with four goals. The Panthers have scored 15 goals this year with eight regular-season matches remaining. EIU had 17 total goals last season.

• Will Butler leads the conference in assists with five. The junior midfielder has 12 assists in his career to go along with five goals.

• EIU ranks second in the conference in goals (15) while ranking second in assists (17).

UIC SERIES HISTORY
The Panthers are 17-7-1 all-time against the Flames. The last time the two teams played each other was on Oct. 27, 2010, with UIC defeating the Panthers, 1-0.

SCOUTING THE FLAMES
The Flames are 7-3 this season with a 4-3 record when playing at Flames Field. Jorge Alvarez and Jesus Torres lead the team in scoring with 10 points each (three goals, four assists). Defensively, goalkeeper Andrew Putna has a 0.80 goals against average with 22 saves and six shutouts.

UP NEXT
The Panthers travel to Fort Wayne on Oct. 12 for a Summit League match before returning to Lakeside Field on Oct. 20 to face Oral Roberts.
