State Police are alerting county residents about unauthorized solicitations

State Police in Jamestown and Fredonia have received numerous reports of callers claiming to be affiliated with the New York State Police and requesting donations over the phone. The requests are purported to support law enforcement initiatives. In many instances residents have reported a caller ID is displayed as "state trooper". The New York State Police does not solicit funds from the public and the individuals making the calls are not affiliated in any way with the State Police. Troopers in Jamestown are investigating the reports. Anyone with any information about the callers should contact the state police at 665-3113 or 679-1521.
