Chamber announces annual award recipients; Reed set to receive Rupp Leadership Award

The 73rd Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce Stars in Business Night of Recognition is scheduled for Thursday, October 17th at the Huntsville Event Center. Social hour will begin at 5:30. Lou Vito will serve as emcee.
This year the Chamber is recognizing five outstanding citizens/businesses for their work and continued support of Logan County. The award winners are Jim Reed, Richard J. Rupp Award winner; Bev Henry, Ambassador of the Year; The United Way, Non-Profit Organization of the Year; Mary Rutan Hospital, Integrity in Business award winner; and Michael Minnich, Entrepreneur of the Year.
Jim Reed, winner of the Richard J. Rupp Leadership award, began his adult tenure at Spend-A-Day Marina after graduation from the University of Cincinnati in 1975. Even though the business requires a great deal of personal involvement, Jim, as well as wife Roseann and daughter Monica, have always tried to find some time and energy to give back to the community. As the years have gone by Jim has had the pleasure to be the first president and current member of the Indian Lake Development Corporation - an organization dedicated to improving Indian Lake, where they succeeded in lobbying for a new barge and crane some years ago. He has also served as an Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce board member, working many fundraising activities and being a staunch supporter of the annual fireworks display. They are also long time members of the Indian Lake Watershed Project and were honored as Watershed Business of the Year in 1997 & 2002. Jim is also currently chairperson of the Sandy Beach Bridge Project through the Indian Lake Historical Society. The opportunities Jim has received are not achieved alone; it is only with the support of families, friends, and coworkers that allow someone be successful in these public endeavors.
Bev Henry, winner of the Ambassador of the Year award, is a Real Estate Professional at HER Realtors. Before that she worked in the banking world for 35 years. Two years ago she joined the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ambassadors. She has had the privilege of attending the “Ribbon Cuttings” and meeting the new businesses that have come to Logan County. She believes that Logan County is growing and many new businesses are filling the empty buildings. She has been married to her husband Doug Henry for 31 years. They have a blended family of 5 children and have been blessed with 11 wonderful grandchildren.
The United Way, winner of the Non-Profit Organization of the Year 
award, opened on November 4, 1955 in Logan County. The first annual meeting was held the following spring where individuals celebrated raising $3,000. The annual United Way of Logan County Campaign is the largest fundraiser in the county and during the past 10 years has generated $8,000,000 to help support the needs of our families, friends, and neighbors. One in every three residents of the county are touched by the support and contributions that many businesses and residents make annually to the UWLC. The organization is managed by Executive Director Jim Donnelly (pictured right) and Office Manager Gina Dyer. A volunteer Board of Trustees with 20 members led by 2013 President Mike Mullins oversees the activities of the organization. The 2013 Campaign Chair is Tara Wagner. Their mission is to facilitate successful agency partnerships that enable a safe, healthy, and caring community.
Mary Rutan Hospital, the Integrity in Business award winner, has been in Logan County for 95 years and throughout this history has maintained a strong commitment to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life of the people entrusted in their care. Continuously improving and developing services to best meet the needs of Logan County has been their ongoing commitment to the community. This commitment has positioned MRH as one of the state’s leaders in health care safety, quality, and service. MRH continues to be recognized at the national level for quality care, highlighted by their recent designations as a Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipient. Mary Rutan is ranked in the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide and one of only 18 hospitals in Ohio to be recognized. In addition, they were the only hospital in Logan and surrounding counties to receive an “A” hospital safety score from the Leapfrog Group. A broad range of services and areas of physician specialty make Mary Rutan Hospital a unique and valued organization within our community.
Michael Minnich, winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year award, founded NetGain Information Systems Company in 1995. NetGain is a local firm consistently recognized nationally for its innovating approach to optimizing client IT infrastructures for success; by delivering cloud solutions to clients over a NetGain-owned fiber-optic network that spans Ohio and part of 
Pennsylvania. Michael received his B.A. from Wittenberg University in 1984 and his Juris Doctor in 1987 from the Michael E. Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. In 1988 he became an associate at Smith, Smith & Montgomery in Bellefontaine and practiced there until 1992 when he became a partner at Thompson, Dunlap & Heydinger. He practiced there until 1995 when he founded NetGain. NetGain’s service to small and medium sized organizations throughout Ohio has earned several awards including Inc. Magazine Fast Growth 5000 List from 2009-2012, Top 40 More Innovative Managed Service Providers – CRN, Ingram Micro Services Partner of the Year, Top 250 North American Managed Service Providers – MSPMentor, CRN Fast Growth 100 MSP List, and CompTIA Trustmark MSP Partners (1 of 50 U.S. Companies). Minnich was named to MSPmentor 250 list identifying World’s Top Managed Services Executives, Entrepreneurs, and Experts in 2012.
