Davenport Police Issue Warrant for Mother of 2 Year Old Injured in a Fire

Oct 9, 2013 3:22 PM

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 21 year old Victoria Carrera of Davenport on charges of Child Endangerment with Bodily Injury. The warrant comes following an August 30th incident in which Ms. Carrera and her boyfriend, identified by the alias Edgar Mendoza, real name Edgar Ponce, left Carrera's 2 year old child home alone while Mendoza (Ponce) drove Carrera to work. While the two were gone the apartment at 1624 1/2 West 7th Street caught fire. Davenport Firefighters were, thankfully, able to save the child and get the fire under control before anyone was harmed; the cause of the fire was a burner left burning on a stove and a skillet with grease in it. Since the fire on August 30th and the subsequent investigation by the Davenport Fire Marshall and Davenport Police, Ms. Carrera has left the area and after failing to return and face charges the warrant was issued. Edgar Ponce meanwhile was arrested and charged with Child Endangerment with Bodily Injury, Providing False Information to Police and an Interstate Detainer; Ponce had other outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest and remains in custody at the Scott County Jail without bond.
