Sports Complex Expansion Ahead of Schedule

The expansion of the Bethalto Sports Complex began in September and the weather has cooperated to the point that work is ahead of schedule. The second phase of the sports complex includes the addition of six multi-purpose ball diamonds, a soccer field, football field, spectator bleachers, rest rooms, concession stand, parking areas and green space.

Grading work and putting the infrastructure for the addition in place is all part of the work that village officials had hoped to complete before the first snow, and Bethalto Mayor's Assistant Jeff Allsman says that appears to be the case.

Allsman comments

The storm sewers are about done, and about 50% of the aggregate base for the roads and parking lots are done. He says it is still possible concrete will be poured for the curbs and sidewalks before the end of the year if the weather stays nice. If all goes according to plan Allsman says the fields should be ready for play by the start of the 2014 season.
