26th annual DD barbecue raises thousands for many programs

Saul Bauer delivers another dinner. The Logan County DD hosted its 26th annual chicken barbecue under sunny skies Thursday at the RTC Industries Building on State Route 47 West.

Hundreds of local residents purchased the chicken dinners, which sold for $8 apiece.

WPKO's Chad Wilkinson, who hosted a live broadcast from 4-6 pm, reports that 2,800 dinners were prepared.

Superintendent Saul Bauer was leading his second chicken barbecue.

He said a record 1,400 dinners were delivered at lunch.

Bauer said the proceeds raised help in many ways, including money for levy campaigns, funds for programs like an adult dinner each Thanksgiving, the preschool program, and helping needy families each Christmas.
