YWCA and NCNW Candidate Forum: Madison County Clerk and Illinois House District 111

The YWCA of Southwestern Illinois and the Alton Section of the National Council of Negro Women hosted a candidate forum focused on local elections and issues facing Madison County and the Metro East. Organizers said the event was informational and that neither organization was endorsing candidates. Candidates introduced themselves and answered prepared and audience-submitted questions.

Madison County Clerk and Recorder candidates Linda Andreas and Rachel Bauerle discussed election confidence, office management, cybersecurity, access to services and public transparency. In the Illinois House District 111 forum, incumbent Amy Elik and challenger Rosetta Brown addressed property taxes, education, economic development, health care, public safety and other community concerns. State Senate District 56 challenger Marcy Gildert Murphy also spoke about her priorities; incumbent Erica Harris was unable to attend.
