Alton Committee of the Whole Discusses Park Alton TIF Request and Public Comment Rules

The Alton Committee of the Whole heard questions about a proposed youth and family park at 401 Piasa Street, including its phases, vendors, funding, traffic safety and a possible city parking lot. The committee voted to lay over the proposed $250,000 TIF grant agreement with Park Alton LLC pending a TIF review board meeting; the agreement was not approved at this meeting.

Members also debated changes to public comment rules, including speaker time and an overall time limit. They approved an amendment changing the proposed speaking limit from three minutes to five minutes, while an amendment to extend the proposed two-hour overall limit to three hours failed. The meeting also covered a vacant lot maintenance complaint, city bills and audit services, and resolutions involving demolition, handicapped parking, surplus property, the Alton Amphitheater Spring Expo and bridge funding.
