Wood River Development, Downtown Events and Veterans Day Breakfast on Our Daily Show

On Our Daily Show, Wood River Business Alliance’s Kristen Burns talks with Mayor Tom Stalcup and city official Steve Palen about projects and plans across Wood River. They discuss Hollywood River Studios, including its proposed studios, esports arena, hotel and conference center; possible east-side sports and hotel development; downtown improvements and housing; and upcoming sewer and flood-control work. The conversation distinguishes projects underway from ideas and plans still being discussed.

Burns also shares downtown Wood River updates, including holiday traditions, Shop Small Saturday and a planned small-business incubator. Terri Schneider of Embark Wealth Partners discusses the ninth annual Breakfast for a Hero, a free Veterans Day gathering for veterans and their immediate families at Julia’s Banquet Center in East Alton on November 11, from 8 to 10 a.m. The program includes music from the Gibson Girls and a guest speaker.
