Save Share

On Our Daily Show, Hayner Library’s Mary Cordes discusses the library’s busy October calendar, led by the “Journey to Freedom: Illinois Underground Railroad” exhibit at Alton City Hall. The exhibit explores Illinois’s role in the Underground Railroad, including local Alton history, and is scheduled to remain on display through the end of the year. Companion programs include talks and music connected to the exhibit, plus a display on Rocky Fork Church at the Genealogy and Local History Library.

Cordes also shares details about family costume swaps, a miniature Halloween parade-float contest, children’s story times and a fire-safety program with the Alton Fire Department. Teen offerings include spooky movie nights, a Halloween party and a program about social media’s effects. Other topics include adult programs, library partnerships and how the library’s programming helps bring the community together. Event details are available through Hayner Library’s calendar.
