Vintage Voices Marks 25 Years of Bringing Alton Cemetery Stories to Life

Vintage Voices committee chair Jody and actor Gail join Our Daily Show to discuss the 25th anniversary season of Alton’s historical reenactments. The volunteer program researches people buried at Alton Cemetery or closely connected to its residents, then presents their stories through performances at their gravesites. This year’s characters include Hannah Bartlett Blaisdell and her daughter, as well as two men connected to the founding of Rock Spring Park.

The guests describe the cemetery walking tours scheduled for October 3–4 and 10–11, and a non-walking performance at St. Mary’s Middle School’s parish center on October 4. The anniversary program will include an actor Q&A and reception; advance tickets are requested for the non-walking event. For the first time, visitors will also be able to enter the Alton Cemetery mausoleum during a performance featuring four people entombed there. Proceeds support the cemetery, Hayner Library and other community organizations.
