As our community gears up for the April 4th election, Alton Main Street will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to learn about each candidate's platform as it relates to the Downtown district. All candidates running for Mayor as well as 1st & 3rd Ward Alderman are invited to participate.
Input from Downtown Alton business owners, property owners and residents will guide the creation of 5 questions for each candidate to answer, followed by a short Q&A from the audience. The goal is to present questions relevant to the mission of AMS, such as: historic preservation, business incentives, aesthetics, riverfront development, streetscape / green space, helping locally-owned businesses thrive, etc.
The event will be moderated by Alton native, Wesley Bell, attorney, and Professor of Criminal Justice at St. Louis Community College. Wesley also serves as Councilman in the city of Ferguson, MO and recently moderated the St. Louis City Mayoral Debate.
