Keith N. Sanders, 92, died at 2:34 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Integrity Healthcare of Godfrey, formerly Blu-Fountain Nursing Home. Born July 10, 1924 in Chesterfield, IL he was the son of Cloyd H. and Mary A. (Naylor) Sanders. Mr. Sanders served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of the VFW Post 1308. He was very active in scouting for over 20 years and retired in 1981 as 20-year volunteer for the Godfrey Fire Department. He retired as an electrician for Laclede Steel January 30, 1987. On May 7, 1949 he married the former Norma A. Kirkpatrick in Hartford. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2007. Surviving is a daughter, Carmen Smith (Alan) of Godfrey, three sons, Carl Sanders (Mary Ellen) of Louisville, KY, Dwayne Sanders (Michael Dickensheid) of Eau Claire, WI, and Kenneth Sanders (Linda) of Dow, three grandchildren, Todd Sanders, Laura Masticola, and Zac Smith and three great grandchildren, Morgan, Kaitlyn and Matthew. Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alan Sanders in infancy and Charles Sanders and a sister, Mary Fewell. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to the Godfrey Fire Department.
