Alan Daniel Hoekstra, 24, died unexpectedly at 7:45 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2009 at his residence of natural causes.
He was born in Alton on Aug. 15, 1985, the oldest of three children born to Kenneth & Annette (Beiermann) Hoekstra. Alan attended St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic School and Jersey Community High School, and obtained a certificate of plumbing from Ranken Technical College. He was currently working at Alton Memorial Hospital through Labor Local #318 in Alton.
Growing up, Alan enjoyed BMX racing and playing soccer, but as of late he simply enjoyed being with his children & family.
Surviving are his parents, Kenneth & Annette Hoekstra of Jerseyville; his fiance', Melinda Marshall of Jerseyville; their two children, Evan Alan & Mackenzie Marie Hoekstra; a brother, Jeremy Hoekstra of Jerseyville; and a sister, Rita Hoekstra of Jerseyville; and numerous loving aunts, uncles & cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roman & Rita Beiermann and Cornelius & Maxine Hoekstra.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where a Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville with Father William Hembrow celebrating. Burial will take place in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to his children in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
