Carol Alice Roe, 90, passed away Sunday July 26, 2015 at home in Alton, IL with her two daughters by her side under the care of BJC Hospice. She married William “Bill” Roe in East Alton September 11, 1942 and he preceded her in death August 24, 1994. She was born to Albert Reike and Sarah (Pivoda) on September 6, 1924 in Wood River, IL at home. She went on to graduate from East Alton-Wood River High School in 1942. Carol was a loving mother, grandmother an avid reader and loved fishing. She was a member of Main St. United Methodist Church. She was also the president of the East Alton Wood River Women’s Club. She worked as a medical secretary for many years and then retired from Alton Memorial Hospital as an admitting clerk. After retiring she and her husband moved to the country, Belleview, IL in 1986. They lived there for 10 years before she returned to Alton following the death of Bill. Surviving are her two daughters; Alicia Hendricks (Russell) of Alton, and Beverly Knox (Wayne) of San Antonio, TX her two grandchildren; Mary Phillips (Jay) of Godfrey and David Hendricks of Alton and her great grandchildren; Riley Phillips and Lucy Phillips of Godfrey.
