Charles Hubbard

Charles L. “Charley” Hubbard, 85, passed away at 10:30pm on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Integrity of Wood River. He was born on August 8, 1931, in Nebo, Illinois, the son of the late Wayne and Fay (Stark) Hubbard. He married the former Sue Scott in 1988 in Roxana, and she survives. Other survivors include his children and their spouses: Glenn and Paula Hubbard of Rosewood Heights, their children: Ridgely Hubbard and his wife Taylor of Wood River and their daughter Kyndall, a granddaughter Reagan Hubbard of Rosewood Heights, a daughter and son in law: Kelli and Jim Brown of Bethalto and their children Tanner Brown of Bethalto, Chris Brown and his wife Kiley of Kansas City, Missouri, a son: Jeff Scott of Rosewood Heights and his son Caleb Scott of Rosewood Heights, a son: Steve Hubbard of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a nephew and his wife: Scott and Luann Hubbard of Greenfield, Illinois and their children Lindsey and Jake Pembrook of Chatham, Illinois, Whitney Hubbard of Springfield, Illinois, Klayton Hubbard of Greenfield, Illinois, a great – great niece, a great – great nephew, a niece: Dawn Hubbard of Alton, a cousin: Bud Stark of Alton, two sister in laws: Sharon Curtis of Delaware, Nancy Hubbard of Dupo, Illinois, and his breakfast club buddies.

Charley was formerly employed as a chemist at Olin Winchester Ammunition in East Alton and later was employed as a manufacturer’s representative. He was a member of the former United Presbyterian Church in Wood River. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Ashley Brown, his brothers: Don, Fred, Jerry “Doug”, and a sister in infancy: Dorothy Jane.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 12pm on Monday, July 3, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Julie Gvillo will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to the LoveJoy Presbyterian Church in Wood River and will be accepted at the funeral home.
