Ellen Mary "Wendy" Bardsley, 70, died at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at her home in Godfrey.

Born April 26, 1939 in England, she was the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Jackson) Bardsley.

She retired in 2003 as an I.T. Manger for Olin after 35 years of service. She was an active member of the TBAC, Touched By A Canine, which is a group that takes therapy dogs to nursing homes and hospitals. Ellen was a member of the House of Victory Church in Cottage Hills and was devoted to her friends.

Surviving is a sister, Leonora Kirkpatrick and her husband Steve of England, a nephew, Paul Cookson and his wife Justine of England, a niece, Emma Frost and her husband Graham of England, two great nephews; Sam and Josh Frost of England, and a great niece, Phoebe Cookson of England. Surviving locally are several special friends, Elaine Perkins of Godfrey, Barbara Lovallo of Godfrey and Sam Abbassian of Godfrey.

She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the House of Victory Church in Cottage Hills. Pastor Tim Naylor will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter or any other animal support group or to Heartland Hospice. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
