James R. Cox Sr, 76 of Shipman, died at 11:40 A.M. on Monday, February 13, 2017 in Shipman.
He was born to the late Harry Andrew & Dorothy Marie (Fricker) Cox on August 27, 1940 in Summerville, IL.
James married Jacqueline F. (Schuetz) Cox on July 4, 1964 in Shipman, Illinois. She survives.
He was a mechanic for Southwestern School District ,United States Army Viet Nam Veteran, member of the Bloomington, Illinois Veterans of Foreign War and 3M Fire Department Association.
Besides his wife, survivors include 2 daughters; Debra (Duane) Smith of Shipman, Michelle (Dale) Swisher of Shipman, 1 son; James Jr. (Crystal) Cox of Shipman, grandchildren; Krista Cox, Raina Swisher, Craig Smith, Addison Cox, Dallas Sherman, Dyllan & Dawson Shaw all of Shipman, Carly & Andrew Weishaupt of Brementon, WA., 1 sister; Thelma Schall of Medora, 2 brothers; Gerald Cox of Plainview, Donnie Cox of Carlinville
Preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers; Fred, Bob, & Charlie Cox
Per his wishes, James was cremated.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at St. denis Catholic Cemetery in Shipman.
Pastor Ray Robinson will officiate
memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
