Jesse Griffin, age 80, of Glen Carbon, died at 11:41 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He was born March 5, 1935, in Venice, the son of the late Fred and Luettia Wheeler Griffin.
He married LaVerne Ziegler on Feb. 16, 1958, in Alcorn County, Miss. She survives.
Also surviving are children: Marsha (David) Reiff of Belleville, Tina (Richard) Ficker of Edwardsville and Rae Lee Griffin of Cartersville, Ga.; grandchildren Amy Elston, Brooke (Josh) Harvey and Blakely Reiff; two sisters: Joyce (John) Eales of Moro and Lucy Kleuter of Brownsville, Texas; one brother: Dale Griffin of Madison and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister: Bonnie Ruth Clifton and five brothers: Fred, Leon, William, Frank and Roy Griffin.
He was a member of Eden United Church of Christ and was a receiving clerk for National Stockyards in National City for 47 years.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home with Rev. John Roberts officiating.
Intermenet will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon.
Memorials are suggested to Eden United Church of Christ.
