J.P. Foutch

South Roxana |

J.P. Foutch, 88, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his home.

Born March 2, 1936, in Thebes, IL, he was a son of Edward and Lura (Coplin) Foutch.

He worked as a Teamster driver for Pepsi Co. for years and retired from a position at Consolidated Freight.  J.P., lovingly called Paw Paw by all his grandchildren, was known for his joy in giving and the ability to put a smile on the faces of everyone he knew. He had an unconditional love for his children. Paw Paw loved his grandchildren deeply and never tired of the trips to the zoo, the science center, Chuck E. Cheese, and all the sporting events. He never had a shortage of goodies for the little ones. Oh, how he loved mom and took such good care of her; the night never ended without a kiss. And most importantly he knew and loved his Lord Jesus- if you had a question about the Bible, he was likely to have an answer that started with, "Well, now...". He will forever be missed.

He married the former Charlotte J. Bovinette on May 5, 1959.  Together they shared almost 65 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his children, Jim (Debbie) Foutch of Fort Myers, FL, Lori (David) Denton of Granite City, Mark (Susan) Foutch of Glen Carbon, and Brian (Rebecca) Foutch of Schertz, TX; 10 grandchildren, Brice (Cassidy) Foutch, Alari (Baylen) McCormick, Kara (Mario) Mendez, James (Anna) Denton, Chase Foutch, Alec (Andrea) Foutch, Austin (Marissa) Foutch, Madeline Foutch, Kenny Foutch, and Eleanor Foutch; two great-grandchildren, Milo and Brylee Foutch as well as two more great-grandchildren on the way; and a brother, Ernest (Carolyn) Stevenson of Thebes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings, Eddie Foutch, Helen Masterson, Hazel Garrett, Leon Foutch, Barbara Shelton, Gene Foutch, Raymond Stevenson, and Herman Stevenson.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 4 at Paynic Home for Funerals.  The family will hold a private family burial.

Memorials may be made to Tapestry of Love Ministries, 3035 Nameoki Drive, Granite City, IL 62040.
