Karen S. Roth, 58, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, at her home in Fieldon.
She was born on September 8, 1965, in Woodriver, IL to the late Elmer and Bertha (Hogle) Ackerman
Karen married her soulmate, Stephen “Lefty” Roth on May 2, 2009.
Karen loved being raised on the farm. The fishing, the outdoors watching the horses run the pasture running barefoot. “There is not one darn thing I would change growing up, country life is the best.”
Karen walked beans during grade school and through high school. Shortly after graduation, she started working at the Depot Restaurant until she was hired full-time at EMI (Capital Records) until she was laid off. Her favorite job was bartending at Michael Tavern. She loved laughing and cracking jokes with her customers, especially making them feel good when they came to visit her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three step-children, Kim Roth, Tim (Jennifer) Roth, and Jim (Dena) Roth; multiple Step grandkids, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews; brothers, Kenny Ackerman and companion Tracy, Jim (Virginia) Ackerman, and Mark (Virginia) Ackerman; brother and sisters-in-law, Joe (Judy) Roth, Kay Fischer and Bob Scott, Karolyn (John) Wankel, and Cindy Ackerman; and lastly her best friend, Karen Freeman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Bertha Ackerman; brother, John Ackerman; brother-in-law, Gary Funk; and nephew, Michael Ackerman.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at noon at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin.
Burial will follow at Fieldon City Cemetery in Fieldon.
